Partners

REN - Redes Energéticas Nacionais has important strategic partnerships in the Iberian Peninsula and at international level.
During the second phase of REN's reprivatisation, the company entered into a strategic industrial partnership with the Chinese multinational State Grid. The aim of the agreement is to reinforce REN's leading position in Portugal and its contribution to the Iberian energy markets and promote REN's involvement in interconnections between the Iberian market and the rest of Europe and North Africa.
It is also object of the agreement to potenciate REN's international expansion, especially in Angola and Mozambique where it will explore business opportunities in the energy sector, and in Brazil and China, where REN's role as a service provider and potential investment opportunities as a shareholder will be promoted.
The partnership also entails the sharing of technological competences, know-how, R&D initiatives and procurement.
Also as a result of REN's reprivatisation, a financial partnership was formed with the multinational Oman Oil Company in order to reinforce REN's leading position in Portugal and its contribution to the Iberian energy markets in particular by increasing the use of its gas infrastructures.
The agreement also includes support for REN's growth and international expansion strategy and promotion of REN's access to the market in the countries in the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, technical cooperation and a reinforcement of REN's financial position. As a result of the internationalization strategy, in February of 2017, REN acquired a 42.5% stake in Electrogas, a Chilean company that owns a pipeline of great relevance in central Chile.
