Applications for 2022 REN Award are open

Applications for 2022 REN Award are open - until 30 April - and will honour the best masters' theses in the field of energy, executed in Portuguese higher education institutions in the different branches of engineering, also covering the fields of Economy, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Information Systems and Computer Science.

The winner of the the Best Master's Thesis will be awarded a monetary value of €25,000. The second prize winner will be  rewarded with the amount of €15,000 and the third prize €10,000. The REN Award also provides for the possibility of endowing special mentions to thesis that deserve recognition for their merit, each of which receiving 2,500 euros.

The panel, composed by highly reputed professionals and chaired by Professor João Peças Lopes, is responsible for selecting the three Master thesis winners.

The REN Award is one of the oldest scientific awards in Portugal and shows REN's commitment to the innovation and development of the energy sector in Portugal and to the reinforcement of the cooperation between academic institutions, technological development and the Portuguese corporate sector.

Established in 1995, it has evolved to incorporate the developments and transformations experienced by the energy sector over the years. Initially intended for the best students of power networks and systems, it later began to incorporate natural gas and to include applications from a broader spectrum of fields, and awards since 2019, every other year, the best doctoral thesis.
